It is /one of/ the Solomonic ways. If you look in the Verum, that book focuses on friendly work with the spirits. There's not any coercion of spirits in the whole grimoire; in fact the grimoire cautions against such an approach "because such spirits don't give something for nothing."
Personally I think it's a bad idea to go around making enemies of these powerful spirits that include the likes of Baal and Astarte just for starters. I've heard of people practicing Lon's method before, and often the spirits will take what they are owed even if you just bully them into doing stuff for you. And when they take what they are owed it might be something you wouldn't be willing to give in the first place
