They don't need to reboot anything, they just need to make a build-esque followup to Duke 3D where he fights more aliens/mutants/robots.
Trying to sell Duke to modern, casual audiences is a waste of effort, but there IS an audience that will gladly welcome more Duke stuff with the crowd that buys things like Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury, etc. Or at least there was at one point.
Cleaning up and finishing the existing 2001 Forever build would be the most ideal scenario, but will obviously never happen. Getting the guys behind Ion Fury to do another sprite-based fps would be pretty neat, though.
