That whole scene was such a tonal mess lmao. Like they tried to make Duke seem emotional for two seconds, then remembered it's a Duke Nukem game and did a complete 180 into edgy schlock. Forever was a disaster, but goddamn if it isn't fascinating in how off the rails it went.

I'd previously heard the DLC was better than the main game. Those people were wrong.
The level designs are somehow worse, some of the level gimmicks are just awful, the references are way worse since most of them are now memes instead of just other vidya, the dialogue is awful especially everything Dylan says. The final bit on the Moon is trash in every way. The final boss sucks. There's a lot more titties but this still being DNF the character models ain't that nice to look at.

Trying to sell Duke to modern, casual audiences is a waste of effort, but there IS an audience that will gladly welcome more Duke stuff with the crowd that buys things like Dusk, Amid Evil, Ion Fury, etc. Or at least there was at one point.
Cleaning up and finishing the existing 2001 Forever build would be the most ideal scenario, but will obviously never happen. Getting the guys behind Ion Fury to do another sprite-based fps would be pretty neat, though.
