So almost everyone seems to be in agreement that the Knight might be Dess

But what if the Knight is actually an amalgamate of both Dess and Asriel?

>Dess is missing while Asriel is "away at college" (we have zero concrete proof he's actually at college. Toriel and Asgore could be in denial or unaware of what happened to their son)
>The Knight has antlers, but which could easily be seen as horns. The game constantly points out that the Dreemurrs have horns
>The weapon looks like a baseball bat which turns into a sword, which is both weapons associated with Dess and Asriel
>Goes easy on Kris due to being brothers
>Kris' Dark World appearance is one of a knight, with armor and sword
>Being an amalgamate explains why the Knight's body can shift and change shape at will
>Attacks have both stars/swords for Asriel, and also a bit of ice themes for when the stars break apart
>The attack where the Knight splits the soul square open is reminiscent of Lemon Bread, an amalgamate from Undertale
>Black Knife, the battle theme for the Knight, has a leitmotif taken from Burn in Despair, an Undertale song for when you fight Asriel
>It explains why Kris would be willing to work for Carol; he wants to save his brother
