Did you get this idea from IDW or something? Sonic isn't a hero that goes around making it his life mission to gift freedom to people. Sonic just does what he wants, and is okay with other people doing what they want. He might still grab your hand and take you for a run somewhere without asking you if he wants to and he thinks it will be good for you. Yuta is going to school and Sonic doesn't want him to be late, so he chooses to help him without asking for his permission. It is in character. It's not the first time we've seen Sonic behave like this
