>Morrowind is one of the best games ever made, and a fantastic RPG.

Most hilarious thing i've read all week

What RPG mechanics? Roleplaying is about meaningful choices and no Bethesda game has choices that matter, just because a game has stats it doesn't make it an RPG

>"it's bad" is subjective
>you lack skill
>it's an acquired taste
>etc.

Why do people defend Morrowind's dogshit combat? It's not a subjective opinion. It is objectively bad gameplay, even for the time when it came out.
>Weapons have multiple moves that deal different amounts of damage, but different weapon/damage types have no impact on how you actually play (there is even a "use best attack always" in the menu) meaning one move is objectively best per weapon type
>No combo system or set-up moves, no reason to chain different attacks or footwork together
>No ability to actively block or dodge, other then movement which is more exploiting the AI then anything
>Enemies move extremely janky and fast and simply attack the moment they go "off cooldown" with zero time to actually react or do anything about it
>Dice roll combat system that isn't even shown to the player (enemies don't parry, block, or dodge attacks if you roll too low; you just hear the woosh noise)
>Game with pause anywhere so combat system always invariably boils down to "pause and spam healing items and hope you have enough to win the encounter" instead of any kind of skill
>Different monsters are just stat blocks with no physics or varied movesets; only occasionally do they have active abilities to worry about; no reason to every change up your weapon types of strategy at any point (except for very uncommon exceptions like Ghost enemies immune to non-silver or magic weapons)
>No sprint, dodge roll, shove, etc. active abilities meaning stamina management is just a bar showing how long you can fight for before you get a big penalty to your stats (and once your tactical "choic" is potion spam)
>Only combat type with different mechanics (unarmed) is some of the most unfun shit imaginable (stunlocking as the only mechanic)
It's just unforgivably bad. Stop trying to defend it.
