One of these days I will design my own custom desk/shelving solution made from Ikea IVAR stuff (pic somewhat related, not mine). The dream would be to combine it with a tatami-esque room, but I'm not quite sure how that would pan out just yet. Intuitively, I'm on the fence on whether tatami + visual clutter (induced by open cabinets) would work.

I have visited this specific house, it's the Müller house in Prague. Really fascinating; it looks very classical in this picture, but the layout is mind boggling. Highlights for me were the boudoir that could look out on the living room, and the japanese tatami room in the attic, bordering on the roof terrace.
