thanks to everyone last thread i think the arm is mostly fixed now. i do need to fix the face still it looks poopy.
i blocked out the shadow shapes, from here time to lineart the bg and add hatching. this is taking forever

coming back from hiatus is always gonna be rough, ive taken years of hiatus and when i came back it felt like i was starting from 0 again. what i did was just copy shit until i was good enough to turn refs into characters i wanted. still not able to draw from imagination so i cant help you on that
as for your question about learning muscle groups, no, theres plenty of artists who do not study anatomy religiously but just look up stuff as they go when they need it. for example if you're mid drawing and unsure how to draw the delts, you can always look it up right there and then. I hate studying, so if you do too, don't force yourself to do it and burn out
