While the vehicle mode is a fantastic representation of the show character, the robot mode...is not. He's basically just an upscaled version of his Deluxe toy, with only a few tweaks here and there that don't really do much to fix his appearance. His bigger wings now fold back against the backs of his arms to kinda-sorta-if-you-squint resemble his big shoulder pauldrons from the show, but the way his forearms open up into a mess of panels is just horrible; his hands are also WAY too small, smaller proportionally than even his Deluxe version's hands. He still has that big, blocky chest (though now it transforms slightly differently), and his twin missile launchers sit on each shoulder (where his intakes should have been on the show). He's still got the completely wrong head and face, too, though that was expected - this guy came out before we got the more show-accurate Tankor and Thrust, and was presumably made before the show aired, so they had no idea how much Mainframe would change his model from the toy. Still a little strange that his Deluxe wasn't rereleased with more accurate details later like the other two, but it is what it is.

I have no idea, but I liked it. I grew up with G2; besides, it always reminded me of how ships tend to have their names stamped on them. It certainly made it easier to memorize the names of new guys.
