See I was thinking about it still and the issue of opening with grass Q is that to roam bot he already dashed through a wall most likely to get there faster, and he had to dive you asap so he couldn't just grab grass and wait for his W cd, so he engaged with earth Q, which deals more damage when you're below 50% hp and you were, typically a full on combo would have killed easily, and had he grabbed grass on his way he wouldn't have been able to catch you in time.
Very delicate situation, honestly...
