>hes like this in your fanfiction
no, in said fanfiction he actually has a much more adversarial relationship with estelle.
>but in reality while Cassius is humble his problem isn't really about being the hero
Literally EVERYTHING in sky disagrees with you.
>If hero worship was an issue he wouldn't have accepted being a S rank bracer,
S rank isnt an official rank
>and he wouldn't have so easily accepted that he had to go back to the military.
He DIDN'T easily accept it.
>By design of Ouroboros he can't.
he wont
> he's too busy putting out fires in Erebonia,
He let them set those fires by refusing to face his duty, he admits to this at the end of sky, play the games
>Cassius is someone who after the war realised that instead of offense he wanted to be someone who protected people, which is why he adopted the staff. It's not that Cassius is afraid of being a hero, but that Cassius wants to protect people instead of being a weapon.
you are an idiot who didn't play the game. Cassius adopted the staff and this save first because he FAILED to save his WIFE even though he saved the country. This is the drama for the entire first chapter of the triology, with the queen and literal antagonist hammering you over and over with how broken your family is thanks to the sacrifices made on their behalf by the brights. There is a reason cassius admonishes richard not with some bullshit about how while he was out saving bracers from oroborous he was helping it, but instead ridiculing his image in front of him, and saying he is NOT the great man that richard thinks he is. Estelle and richards final confrontation is LITERALLY about the difference between believing in a singular hero and savior vs believing in liberl as a whole. The entire game beats you over the head with this simple truth but you claim its a fucking head canon. You'd have to be brain dead to miss it.
