I've had a easier time with Impact Nades than the Dog Nade so far, especially since half the time i cant position the dog properly in time for it to be worthwhile, on bosses its easy yeah
Voltaic Mandibles is mostly used to grab Canine Morale, but its a free shock on enemies for your Blessings i suppose, will take the Impact node though
