The idea that there's an empire/swarm of insectoid conquerors that's just entirely fucking invisible, including their tech is just a cool concept

I'm imagining them taking over remote colonies without anyone noticing, signals keep being sent out, "people" seem to be walking around on scans, but the entire place has been already taken over, Kriken have set up their bases underground, invisible warships are in orbit and the people slaves pretending things are okay
