true, hard-scifi's are rarely funny and you can't write spontaneous stuff like AH does into them, this style left them with huge amounts of creative freedom. They really needed another 3-4 episodes frankly to flesh out the show and avoid the crazy long time-skips they kept doing from ep3-10.
