I'm a bit surprised the raw released before the english subtitles, I figured this show was getting simulcasted.

A pretty depressing end for humanity, but also a great final episode if you ask me. It is sad that they can no longer inhabit Earth, but working that into Earth becoming a literal hotel for them is fun. Yachiyo's arc through the episode was great, though I honestly thought it was gonna be a gag about the shampoo hat. The scene where the human gets excited at the shampoo hat put a massive smile on my face

It's not the AOTS contender that I thought it was gonna be based on the start, but it's still a fantastic show and top 5 in this season, and I really loved this season. I know people wanted more "mono no aware" but the tanuki's and Yachiyo had me laughing every episode, the shows sense of comedy was fantastic and the more solemn episodes/beats were incredible. Yachiyo is the best girl we've had in forever. While my true favourite girl of the season is Osanai Yuki, I'm going to say she doesn't count since Shoushimin is S2. Yachiyo is the best and I'm gonna miss her and her show dearly.

Since the cause of their immunodeficiency was environmental, that means they can fix it by gradually acclimating people to Earth's atmosphere. They'd need a lot of atmospheric samples to be gathered, then isolate different parts that are causing allergic reactions and gradually introduce those strains to the ships' atmospheres until people develop antibodies for it, and just keep doing this until people attain a baseline level of tolerance.

They don't need antibodies, they already have them and that's the problem. Allergies are basically the body overreacting to things that aren't actually harmful to it, and putting the body into a state of shock to fight off a nonexistent threat. Basically the issues is humans have been in sterile, germ-free environments for so long that their bodies now overreact to every foreign substance around them.

Japan has very limited phonemes so there are a lot of homophone words, and this is increased by the way kanji work as a writing system. Kanji was borrowed from China, and so every symbol has its own Chinese way of being read, and the Japanese then used these Chinese characters to spell out their Japanese words, going off of meaning rather than sound, so each character gained at least one other sound, sometimes lots of other sounds.

So the result is you have characters that can be pronounced sometimes half a dozen different ways, and you have totally different sets of characters that can be pronounced exactly the same way.

Ends on a very good final joke, the voice acting on the yelling part was great. Went in the direction of being way more hopeful and happy, and less somber, in the end than I thought.
I really liked the way Yachiyo raises her smile when the human sees that Earth itself can be treated as a hotel overall and can be revisited still. I think that’s a really good cap off tot he title itself.

I think humans can definitely return to Earth in some capacity. Iori can eat the food the staff cooked just fine, so her immune system did not deteriorate to a point where she could only survive in a spaceship environment. Allergies are not deadly viruses - even if they can't be cured, they can be managed with antihistamines and such. And if humans can build colonies in space, building one on Earth would be far simpler, with more resources and space to go around. They will eventually adapt, for sure.
Also, I sure hope Yachiyo is not some lost technology, even though Iori's reaction to her certainly implies so. I hope other robots can be fixed.

At the very least they'll have a water and food supply that they wont be relying on bugburgers and indian recycling.

there were a couple of weak episodes in the middle, but they were fine. Ponkos kid was always a barrel of delights and her killing the 2 blue guys in ep10 by accident was hilarious.

Also Yachiyo not ever realising she was very much in love with the Owner (moreso as a father figure i presume) and her mild disappointment/underwhelmed mental state at bubble girls arrival was a sweet touch. She would only ever have truly lost it with joy if somehow HE had returned. She always said "when humanity returns", but she meant him.

Mostly, I think this is because so much time was spent not on the humans and robots that it wasn't possible to wrap it all up.

I both agree and disagree. I did like a lot of their additions, but I feel like the overall narrative and emotional impact of the show was wasted due to all the time spent with the Tanuki. It's especially odd since these last 2 episodes were all about humanity and "being a robot". Either the staff should've just forgotten that stuff and gave us 2 more weeks of tanuki or not spent like 4 weeks on the tanuki. The tonal shift really undermines any emotions in the ending, which is kinda a shame

the timeskips make sense when you look back and realise they were heavily time-restricted and in order to progress certain characters to certain ages+experience levels, they had to do time skips, or add 3+ more episodes, which i doubt they had the option of.
