religion may be bogus on a purly material sense, but it doesn't stop it from being incredibly powerful.
religion is like WWE, yeah it's fake, but it being 'true' isn't as important as the effects it has on people.
I was an agnostic atheist for the longest time. Yeah logically atheists are probably the ones in the right, but that's no fun, from a pragmatic point of view, as long as you don't fall into the dogma of abrahamic religions you can get an incredible amount of mental power and wonder from beleif with little to no downside. Placebo pills are sometimes as effective as real medicine because the human mind is amazing at influencing itself. Sure a placebo is 'fake' but the effects are real, and IF the effects are real... does it really matter if the pill is sugar or not?
You can derive meaning from the meaningless and let it propel you.
