Why is Uncle Joe often portrayed as being outplayed and outsmarted by Hitler in 1941, but you never hear the Americans being referred to as being outplayed or outsmarted by the Japanese for not seeing Peal Harbor coming?
Both instances the attacked country didn't see it coming despite numerous warnings.
