No you actually should first try to land a job online. My mate essentially just searched "language teaching job in university" in google and applied. Got his job first try. I myself did the same but with academic exchange services etc. which was convoluted and I should have done the same as him kek.

You may first go to China visa free to check out if you like the country or not, but dont overstay visa there and it is better to find a job beforehand.
