Time and time again i've been saying that you could take Kratos away from GoW4/5 and absolutely fucking nothing will change in the story. He could be a literally who foe all it cares. Nothing there hinges on him being Kratos. A warrior from a distant land? Maybe a little bit, but not Kratos specifically.
He's just there because it will sell.
