I don't think anybody actually WANTS to do localization
It's not the type of prestigious job to which a kid would say "GEE WILLIKERS, WHEN I GROW UP, I WANT TO LOCALIZE JAPANESE SMUT" or "I WANT TO TRANSLATE 3 DOLLAR EARTHBOUND RIPOFF INDIE GAMES TO 15 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES"

People I knew back in college took online translation jobs because they were fairly simple and paid decent, they'd get some savings from this to help with expenses.
It's a shitty fucking job and something which AI and automation can completely replace.
