I like how WfM is a litmus test for whether or not you like yuri. Love yuri, WfM will be your anime of the decade. Hate yuri, and it is physically painful to watch. Neutral to yuri, and it's a solid "meh, I don't see what the big deal is."

It's weird, because other anime are arguably even more yuri, like Nanoha or Utena, but that's enjoyed by both yuri aficionados and everyone else.
