The games explicitly mention rings existing, even in the Japanese manuals for the Mega Drive games. Rings are also still displayed in cutscenes, like in SA1, Shuffle and 2.

Currency has never not been real, according to SoJ. You're talking about the mandate, which has only ever applied to Western-made media, but SoJ has and still does consistently mention money. Sonic Channel just received a huge overhaul this year, and character bios still mention money being a thing. Sonic PICT (the monthly Sonic Channel art drawn by Karasuno that comes with a story written by her, Toyoda and Hoshino) mentions mortgages, etc.

The planet has been called Earth in every Japanese manual that mentions the planet, in SA2, in Riders, in Advance 3, in Unleashed, and so on. The only time you can argue any "inconsistencies" here is in the brief period where "Sonic's World" was used, but that and Two Worlds were scrapped as they more or less reverted to the Yuji Naka lore. Ian Flynn has stated countless times now on his Bumblecast that the planet is called Earth, which it has been called the majority of the time. Many instances of something outweigh the small few in this case.
