So i'm supposed to believe this guy got killed by an ultra conservative dude who hates gay people?

If he was so conservative, wouldn't he see Joss as a straight man since he's banging a biological woman? (Joss's partner was a ftm tranny) wouldn't the bigots target the tranny instead of the straight guy banging her? or are they super progressive, tolerant bigots who respect that girl's gender identity?
