Dale sounds off, but can be chalked up to old age. He seems to talk a tad bit too fast, but the voice itself passes kinda.

There's something off about the pacing. I felt that King of the Hill had pretty good pacing, but now it seems like a mishmash of scenes rather than a coherently flowing episode, but I think that's just modern TV problems in general.

I just watched all 10 episodes. I thought it was pretty solid. It has the same kind of rough edges a first season would have, which makes sense given that it's basically a new show. Some people seem to be commenting based on just the first episode or two, and a ton here seem like they've completely missed that some of the "woke" parts are obvious satire and haven't actually watched far enough to see the parts where they get subverted. I'd bet a lot haven't watched it at all and have only seen other people talking about it about it or posting out of context clips.

7/10 IMO, it's not the original at its peak but it's got good moments and it's way less tainted than you'd expect for a modern TV show.

No way. Seasons 10 and 12 are great season that just happens to have a few awful episodes.
Season 13 is a decent even if not near the best KOTH but it still has some great episodes.
Season 11 is pretty bad but still better than 14.

It's good, the worst episodes are episode 1 and the Andrew Tate episode. There were lots of ways they could have made fun of the whole "manliness coaching" thing while being more subtle especially at the end. Hank being into it at first was funny, and it was cool seeing GH, but the ending scene came off 100% like it was written by a woman with a chip on her shoulder. You can make fun of Andrew Tate-types and their hardcore fatherless fans without resorting to "you just hate women/aren't getting laid" (which makes it completely obvious a woman wrote it).

Also recasting Kahn was a fucking terrible idea, he sounds awful. I kept imagining some of his lines being read by the original actor and they would automatically be way funnier. KOTH became my comfort show over the last 3-4 years. It helped me get through a difficult divorce.

I loved it as a kid, but rewatching these past few years allowed me to see the true richness of the world and characters in Arlen. It's just a comfy ass show, all about the mise-en-scene of life in small town Texas.

I watched the first three episodes of the new season last night with a massive smile on my face. Obviously it wasn't peak KOTH from the 90s, but it was the show I love. Seeing Bobby all grown up and thriving was so rewarding.

Dale was the only real weak link for me, it was pretty painful suffering through such a poor imitation of his character. His lines were the only thing that detracted me from feeling like I was literally watching the same show from back in the day. Otherwise, I'm loving it so far.

The time scaling is totally fucked up, and the creators have been open about that. They recently confirmed that Hank was 41 in the original series (so he would have been 28 when Bobby was born) and has aged by roughly the 17 years it's been since the last season, putting him in his late 50s. He retired about 10 years early because of the money he made in Saudi Arabia. Somehow Bobby's timescale is completely different though and he's only 8 years older than he was. (Which adds a whole extra weird thing by completely changing his generation, from a 1987 early-mid millennial to a 2004 mid-late zoomer.)

Anons that grew up with the original? It's a surprisingly fun reboot. Characters surprisingly still have their charm and feel like the original characters with slight changes here or there. Dale is still the same other than the voice. The stuff with him getting the rat out of Bobby's restaurant was good. Few nice wholesome scenes like the original show. Few weak points but overall its pretty good as a reboot and great when compared to modern day tv.

Yeah, he sounds a lot better in episode 8 when Toby Huss takes over full time. Mainly because he doesn't sound like he's dying anymore.

It's the first 7 episodes, although Huss does some of his lines in those episodes as well (some of them are 100% Hardwick). Episode 8 is the first 100% Huss episode and it's a very noticeable improvement.

It was... fine. I watched the entire season. I liked seeing Connie and Bobby grown up. Joseph didn't get enough screentime/fleshing out.

The bad voice actors (Dale's and Kahn's) are distractingly awful. It shocked me to realize that the worst of Dale's voicing was actually the original actor who was just clearly sick and dying. Kahn's voice actor is so terrible I almost wish he wasn't in the show at all.

Some stuff made me eye roll (Connie being in an open relationship, The Vegan girl, some other stuff) but overall it was fine. I liked Bobby and Connie getting back together. For someone who hates soccer as much as old Hank, I found it pretty hilarious he picked up a love of the game over in Saudia Arabia. Makes a lot of sense.

I really hate how they didn't mention Luanne, Lucky, and Ladybird whatsoever. Never really gave any reasoning on how Hank got hired for the job in Saudia Arabia and how he grew to accept the job. Never said what happened to Strickland Propane. I didn't even think he'd mention BUCK for crying out loud.

It could have been done way way better. But I like seeing the old cast of characters in a new era with new storylines regardless. I guess I'm easy to please.
