Neanderthals never invented the bow & arrow, they didn't even invent the spear thrower, forcing them to hunt prey via night ambush with simple stabbing spears. They never invented the needle, thus their "clothes" were just animal hides draped over their shoulders and they never domesticated dogs.

There was also an article I read years back about a Neanderthal archeological dig alongside a river and while some salmon bones were found in trash middens showing that they did eat and like fish, the odd sporadic consumption when salmon are known to run in the same river every year at round about the same time, suggests Neanderthals didn't have a good grasp of time.

Life just kinda happened to them and they didn't think any more about it.
