However, we realize almost immediately that Mike is actually a competent hunter. He casually picks up and kills a dangerous snake, rescues a girl from a real crocodile attack, saving her life, and tames a buffalo with a sleight of hand. It's interesting how the film doesn't take an ironic or cynical stance toward the protagonist, simply letting him be who he is.
