>join a super cucked faction like the railroad
I hated being, ahem, railroaded into dealing with them in Fallout 4. You're only forced to join Constellation, the "exploration" group the main story centers around, and even then you can explore the entire game without even starting the main quest. There's military/security factions, a corpo faction, you can even join the game's pirate faction through various means. I don't think any of the missions are bad by any means, since IMO the "designed" content is where the game shines rather than through procedurally-generated exploration.

>The POI system is a crippling flaw
It was one of the reasons I originally dropped the game on release, aside from things like the shitty map system which have been only somewhat fixed.
It'd be too much to drop my mod list here, but to name one I consider "POI Variations - No More Duplicates" to be absolutely essential and something Bethesda should have already added to the game.
>no, I also haven't paid a dime for the game and no, I definitely haven't paid for any stupid '''creations''' either
