it covers one of the most interesting periods of chinese history, albiet with a fairly soft lense, it has suspense, puzzle solving, its characters arent completely one dimensional (like how the strategist and blue concubine could have just been mustache twirling villains but turn out to be much deeper and more sympathetic), its just a very fun and well written anime that doesnt instantly devolve into power levels, tropes, or have one of those characters that yells everything at volume 10 all the time in a 13 year olds voice like pic related. its a breath of fresh air to have a chill puzzles and clues anime with a bit of romance, and taking place during the period of chinese concubine and eunich spy wars is just the icing on the cake
