hi anon
third trip to Japan rn, this one is 1 month (2 weeks Tokyo, 2 weeks Kyoto Osaka)
my second trip was 1 week Tokyo 1 week Kyoto Osaka
I would say that Kyoto has a lot of tourists, but there is some cool stuff to see, if you want more nature then arashiyama (especially by the monkey park / the monkey park hike is so cool and u see monkeys) is rly nice (I'm in Kyoto rn and did it today)
in tokyo i rly enjoyed Shibuya because of alpaca boba, and the food is pretty good.
Walking to gotokuji temple (lucky cat) from Shibuya is a very pleasant walk and you should 1000000% visit lucky cat
osaka is ok but stay near dotonburi street if u wanna see it, its a big city
museum of housing and living in Osaka is rly cool,
if you can a day trip to Fuji Q is worth it (huge amusement park for adults, rly fast) and the KAIYUKAN AQUARIUM IN OSAKA IS RLY GOOD
but to actually answer your question, I would say there's more to do in Tokyo than Osaka if its your first time, and its a lot easier to figure stuff out in Tokyo. If you want nature I would say that Kyoto is worth it, but over tourism is real. I would start in Tokyo, get a suica card / figure stuff out, and look on Atlas Obscura for stuff you find interesting. Rainbow bridge walk is rly cool too would recommend
