I remember the Kutthroats putting their ballots back in the box telling Sakurai or Nintendo that the costume wasn't what people wanted. May or may not have worked, but they knew that K. Rool was a big name that had support.

Again, at the time no one knew that Ultimate would be around the corner. Sakurai was working on it right after For. Midway into the Switch's life, yeah. Relatively early on, that was a surprise.
