Melina is a Death Priestess known as Kindling Maiden. All the Death priestesses can manipulate sprites and use the power of death to bolster them as the Shamans did.
You can tell in the base game where she literally takes the soul of the player away from the vessel and brings it over the fire, where it travels to Farum Azula, leaving the body empty. They apply the asceticism of the Realm of Shadow

The Order endings are nothing like Mass Effect endings because they have clear implications that are fully explained and different end results.
The Duskborn is especially an important ending and my favourite.
