1911s are great in 9mm, 10mm, 45acp, and 38 Super. It all depends on what you're looking for.
If you already have 9mm, I'd definitely go with that. It'll be light recoiling, cheap to feed, and all around a good choice.
If you want to maximize energy and ballisticmax, or you just like a punchier gun, 10mm is the way to go. If you don't already have a 45, I think this is the way to go
If you already have 45s, or want it as a suppressor host and making sure you get the most possible energy out of subsonics, 45 is good.
If you're Mexican, get a 38 Super
