It's a huge upgrade, both in story and gameplay.

Not being constantly interrupted with "A vision!", not having your Chain Attack rely on RNG, getting movement speed from side quests rather than having to sacrifice your battle power, the story doesn't drop off halfway through, a more rounded cast of characters rather than Dunban Melia and Shulk carrying the entire crew, Rex doesn't have to learn the exact same lesson 4 separate times through the first 3 chapters etc etc etc
