Many of the post-anime TCG exclusives feel like they're trying (and failing miserably) to be like Fire Kings. Myutants, Tistina, Ashened, but Ghoti especially.
Like Ghoti has some cards that read good on paper, Distant Depths is just a modernized version of Fire King Island, Arionpos and Psiics are both incredible cards as a Denglong equivalent and extender that Fire Kings, and any comparable decks like Maliss or Crystron, would love to have. The problem is that every other Ghoti card is so ridiculously below the power curve it's insane, even with a strict comparison to Fire Kings, Fire Kings doesn't have Eternity Garunix only trigger on the opponent's standby phase and slowly begin to set up after passing on Ponix pass like Ghoti does, Fire King isn't designed around the idea that it will always go first and will always sufficiently deal with the opponent's hand that all they have to do is OTK turn 3, Fire King doesn't have almost all its interactions be on field so a single boardbreaker blows it the fuck out, Fire Kings actually has negation and on demand disruption so it isn't succumbing to having nothing for must negates or desperately trying to play catchup against an increasing series of on summon effects
