The thing is that the important homosexual relationships in UTDR are lesbian ones, and much less people actually dislike lesbianism enough to turn them off from the game. At most, they just think, correctly mind you, that the lesbian relationships are a bit "forced" by Toby.
As opposed to male homosexual relationships, which a majority of society is disgusted by. Sorry to say this if you're gay, but a lot of people just find it gross and there's really nothing you can change about that.
That's why most gay couples in kids cartoons and stuff are women and not men. Women liking women is just more digestible.
