It's pretty much pointless when Ch13 makes it so everyone's soul is just being projected into their mims from Gnosis. Yelv's just as much a real human as the rest of the survivors.

What's left to explain? He couldn't escape Mira because Mira was in an entirely new universe from the one he was jettisoned from. He can't go Back to the Future because his universe is likely gone too. He's just another Arms Manufacturer at this point.
