Now that's just not true. Zelda has more games and a longer history, yes, but most of the characters/enemies are reused. That's why Hyrule Warriors had to pull really obscure characters like Agatha, the bug lady from Twilight Princess.
Xenoblade, by comparison, has TOO MANY characters to choose from. 7 main cast characters from 1, 7 main cast characters + 15 other party members from X, 5 main cast characters from 2 (assuming you don't go nutso and start adding the Blades as individual characters), and 7 main cast characters + 19 heroes (not including the heroes from other games like Nia and Shulk). Then you've got Kino and Nene from Future Connected, Matthew, A, Na'el, Nikol, and Glimmer from Future Redeemed, the whole cast from Torna, and several important NPCs like Alvis, Vandham (X), Vandham (2), Vandham (3), Ga Buidhe, Tatsu, Erio, and so on.
You end up with around 50 viable A-lister and B-lister characters to choose from, and if you want to use the Rare Blades as characters that pool bloats to around 80 or 90.
