The Texas state legislature, at the behest of Governor Abbott and President Trump, are voting on redrawing the congressional districts of the state to create five more safe Republican seats in Congress. The Democratic state legislators, in protest, have fled Texas for Illinois, denying the legislature of quorum, therefore preventing any votes to be held. Governor Abbott has said he will declare their seats vacant if they do not return. Apparently Illinois is paying them to flee the state which Abbott is arguing counts as them accepting political bribes for which they can be kicked out of office for.
