Draco meanwhile being the golden only child of Lucius gets the new toys before everyone and acts like a rich cunt despite that comparative wealth being mostly because he has no brothers or sisters as basically the entire wizard economy seems to be bureaucrat jobs with a few retail spots that have existed in the same nature forever.

>>213378932What exactly is the Wizard economy anyways? Everyone is some sort of bureaucrat, there's a major broomstick manufacturer and wand manufacturer, but outside of that they have their own currency so it's not like you can get a degree from Hogwarts and then say get a job at a Stadium using magic to make intricate repairs to cracking concrete or using a wand to do forklift operations. The minister of magic knows the PM, but it's not like he's out there going, and we'll send 5000 of our wizards out to the front in Afghanistan to help with medical treatment and repel mortar fire.

>>213379084Money is near meaningless in the wizard world because you can just wave a wand and *poof* now youโve got a 12 bedroom mansion. They donโt really care about wealth as much as status, and thatโs entirely determined by ancestry.

>>213378992>indian culture is British culture
I have a list of poor friends I would like to help in case I ever make a few millions. The trick is to not donate money, but give them gifts. It's humiliating to receive money while doing nothing, but if you buy them an apartment, it works.
I don't think Harry's supposed to be particularly rich, he just got his inheritance early and has nothing to spend it on but school supplies
This thread is pointless because Rowling is a hack.
It is very clearly stated that Harry's vault is packed with PILES of coins, of several of them, not just one little stack, on the first book.
BUT this was retconned on the later books, and Harry had "enough for him to last him a couple years" and that his "vault was reducing considerably"
BUT that was re-retconned, when Sirius died and left everything to Harry. Which amounted to nothing but his stinky place, as he was poor.
BUT this is a re-re-re-retcon, as Sirius got him the Firebolt, which implies he was stacked and should have left Harry another good stack of money.
Bear in mind Sirius money has been collecting free interest untouched for 12 years.
And Harry got fuckall.
So the Harry's wealth has literally plot-armor treatment, going up and down as the plot see fit.
>>213379084It was written by a socialist women, why are you surprised that she doesn't know why currency exist, and that only added currency to her world the same way she sees currency in the real world: just a thing you have to have.
It's some round shiny thing with names and with loosely divided equivalences and you use them to pay for some things.
Nothing more, but not because kids don't need the underlying explanation, it's because Rowling doesn't KNOW the underlying explanation of how money works or why.
To her, it's just a system that's just there.

>>213383427Doesn't matter. That has no bearing on law, only the reason/result. No case ever was ever on the line for being 4 punches instead of 7 punches or how many of them you enjoyed.
I get it that it's emotionally taxing for you and you wish to inject your discontent into code of conduct, but it doesn't matter.
What matters is the trigger she said, and her final state: concious and walking and probably reasoning, which actually tells you the punches aren't mma nigger tier or she wouldn't be able to even stand up

"The Basilisk" is a threat in a charming, whimsical world of magic when the series is a cute mystery story.
"The Basilisk" is fucking cannon fodder once the stories got LE DARK and LE EPIC.
The makers of these movies should've donated me money for having to sit through the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the seriesโ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but itโs certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Look bro, all I'm saying is that one crack team of operators could bring the wizarding world to it's knees.
He gave the Weasley twins their seed money to start their business and from that they became extremely wealthy and carried the family on their backs. Had he just given the money to Arthur and Molly they probably would've squandered it on another family vacation or some other useless frippery and they still would've been poor afterward. Harry wisely avoided giving the money to Ron's parents, opting instead to finance his brilliant and industrious older brothers.

Ron: "So how much did your wand cost you?"
Harry: "Suck it Ron. Suck it good."
Philosopherโs Stone, Ch 5, โDiagon Alley.โ is the reference for the price: โHarry paid seven gold Galleonsโ.
In Harry Potter's world, 7 gold galleons are worth approximately $44.45, based on the conversion of 7 galleons to USD using the value of $6.35 per galleon, according to Sideshow. This is based on the idea that a galleon is worth roughly $6.35 in modern currency. This is just an approximation, as the exact value of a galleon can fluctuate. For example, in the Harry Potter universe, Harry's wand cost 7 galleons, which is estimated to be around $44.45 in modern currency
In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, when Harry first encounters the snack trolley on the Hogwarts Express, he buys a little of everything available. This purchase of a variety of wizarding sweets cost him eleven silver Sickles and seven bronze Knuts. In terms of real-world currency value, it is estimated that one Sickle is roughly equivalent to $1.50, and one Knut is about $0.05. Therefore, Harry's purchase could be seen as costing approximately $17 to $18 in Muggle money. However, it's worth noting that J.K. Rowling has stated a Galleon (17 Sickles) is roughly equal to five British pounds, which would put the price at around $7 at the time of the interview.
>>213389214>seasmus tries it>the shit explodes and rains down on everyone in class
>>213377842>He literally funded the brothers magic shopHarry Potter provided Fred and George Weasley with 1,000 Galleons to help them start Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.
This came from his winnings from the Triwizard Tournament. While the twins initially resisted taking the money, Harry insisted they take it, saying he would "throw it down the drain" if they didn't. Harry's only request was that they use some of it to buy Ron new dress robes and not mention his involvement to their mother.
===
In Harry Potter, 1000 galleons is worth approximately ยฃ5,000 or $6,640 USD, according to fan estimations. This is based on J.K. Rowling's statement that a galleon is roughly equivalent to five British pounds.

Don't let them tell you otherwise, because they are notorious liars and don't know their own minds. Women want to be held down and fucked hard. They want to be made to cry and scream. Women have a biological imperative to be raped. Did you know that women who are raped are twice as likely to conceive as women who have unprotected consensual sex? It is a fact. Women who are raped often have orgasms as well - some women have never had an orgasm in their lives save for a rape. The desire to be sexually dominated is deeply programed into the woman. This is a fact of evolution that cannot be denied without women becoming unbalanced. Feminism is really just an outward manifestation of an internal problem with modern women. These 'feminists' desperately want to be put in their place. That's why they act out so much and are so belligerent. Whether they know it or not, subconsciously they want to piss men off and get men to make them submit. They want to be slapped in the face, told to shut the fuck up, and then raped until they can't stand up. This is what women really want. I say we give it to them
>>213381223>BUT this is a re-re-re-retcon, as Sirius got him the Firebolt, which implies he was stacked and should have left Harry another good stack of money.NOTE:
In the United States, the average weekly pay for a manufacturing worker is approximately $997 before taxes.
In the Harry Potter universe, the most prestigious broomsticks were undoubtedly expensive. Estimating their cost in US dollars requires understanding the value of wizarding currency (Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts) in relation to Muggle currency.
According to the Harry Potter Wiki, one Galleon is approximately equal to $6.64 USD.
Using this conversion rate, the US dollar cost of the fancy broomsticks can be estimated:
Nimbus 2000: With an estimated cost of 150 Galleons, the price would be approximately $996 USD.
Nimbus 2001: Estimated at 180 Galleons, the price is roughly $1195.20 USD.
Firebolt: This top-of-the-line broomstick, estimated at 300 Galleons, would have cost around $1992 USD.
Important considerations
J.K. Rowling mentioned in 2001 that one Galleon was roughly ยฃ5, equivalent to about $7 USD. However, a more precise conversion rate of $6.35 per Galleon has been calculated, accounting for inflation and other factors.

Based on current market prices, the market value of 0.76 grams of pure gold can be calculated by multiplying the weight by the price per gram. The price of pure gold (24K) is approximately $108.56 - $109.07 USD per gram.
Therefore, the market value is approximately:
0.76 grams * $108.56/gram = $82.50 USD
or
0.76 grams * $109.07/gram = $82.89 USD.

Value and alchemy:
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has indicated that a Galleon is worth roughly ยฃ5, or about $6.64 USD. If a Galleon were pure gold, it would be worth significantly more than that. This suggests that wizarding gold is likely alloyed with other metals, or perhaps even alchemically treated to have a different value in the wizarding world.
($6.64 worth of gold is 0.088 grams of gold. In more familiar terms, that's about 88 milligrams. Or about the weight of a standard paperclip made of aluminum.)

JK Rowling is an anglo-supremacist and the economy in HP makes zero sense. How do people even make money? What kind of labor is really done to create wealth? The only real workers we see are slaves and bankers, both elves, plus a few larper shops. As far as we know it's all slavery but it doesn't many any sense why the elves would slave themselves just to keep wizards happy and rent-free.
>>213396725>both elvesno

>>213396725>but it doesn't many any sense why the elves would slave themselves just to keep wizards happy and rent-free.there was an elf/wizard war who knows how long ago and the elves were so "evil" that those who survived and accept defeat promised that their race would be 100% obedient for the rest of time.
and for goblins its simply in their nature to hoard wealth and to keep it safe
so its either they do it legally or they do it illegally
pretty simple choice
also better that goblins do it because no one trusts them anyways and they dont associate with anyone but other goblins
so its not like you are going to live next to a goblin that you distrust and also give them all your money for safe keeping
also goblin(and elf) magic is 100% separate from human magic
so its like a dog keeping their money in a human bank that is only designed to be opened by humans
any other dog wanting to break in is simply incapable of physically doing so or even imagining how the bank was constructed in the first place.

In the books a lot of people seemed very distrust of goblins, yet they still gave them their money for god knows what reason. Why would they even give wizards their work and time for? Don't they have anything better to do than hoard other people's money, especially if it supposedly, like you said, is like fake currency to them. What the hell do Goblins even get of this deal?
It's clear that JK Rowling couldn't bother with any of these questions because she's a hack with less skill at world building than a 10 year old writing Star Wars fanfiction and all of these characters are there just to make the world look more fantastical.
