If I were to guess for this movie's box office, it would be:
>Best-case scenario for international (non-Japan):
US: $15-20M (September is a dump month)
France/South Korea/Taiwan/Hong Kong: $30-40M combined (Taiwan does all the heavy-lifting, Mugen Train made $20M followed by South Korea where it made $15M while in Hong Kong it made $4M amd France it made $6M)
All other countries (LATAM, EU, SEA): ~$20M tops
That's a maximum of $100-110M internationally.
>Actual likely total worldwide:
$150-170M, maybe around $200M tops. $70-90M (or $100M) from Japan. $80-110M international.

It'd make significantly less than Mugen Train, there won't be any China release to carry it around and there's no Covid boost either that emptied theaters and gave Mugen Train the chance to run for 6 months. That, and franchise fatigue is real. They've been pumping out Demon Slayer content non-stop.

Irrelevant rambling. Sony executives are the ones who are saying they'll make more money than Mugen Train (won't happen) and coping about how they could have made more money without Covid (their words). Even if Jurassic World makes only $10-20M in the box office, that money is still not going to Demon Slayer. Same with Superman, that's the most anticipated movie of July.
