I was expecting something like Integral Trees, where you have a vast area free of gravity (technically everything's in freefall) but full of breathable air. Or that other science fiction novel i can't remember the name of, where human colonists accidentally enter a universe where the gravitational force is a billion times stronger. Their ship collapses under its own weight but it's okay because that same gravity means the galaxy is thick with breathable air. Basically i was expecting fantastical elements that would allow the "spaceships" of this setting to be more like the Weatherlight too, with open decks
