I wonder if Maria's inner thoughts and personality would fight control over with Metal's learning AI/strict objective Eggman has placed? If so that'll be a interesting AU storyline that can show Shadow's patience with this situation. Id love to see how Shadow would be able to handle its existence, and how he can make peace his own way.

Oh yeah 100% that is the vibe that was implied with the journal, and the movie sort of makes this an pivotal character progressional point for Robotnik. If you put it like that then the angle of him trying to "make a family" even if his own twisted desires sort of twist his preception of it (Ala Sage and Metal are just his tools to flex his intellectual prowess) then thats a cool ass way to add a bit of depth into him.
