The way Capcom view Monster Hunter and the way nerds view Monster Hunter seems to be completely disconnected. The Monster Hunter movie is a project they were very happy with, and were very proud to work on, and it reflects their vision of the IP. The fact that a number of online MH fans don't get that tells you that their idea of what MH is is very different to Capcom's. For example, the whole dimensional travel thing. That is foundational to the setting. The reason the MH world is post-post-apocalyptic is because forces from another reality came through the portals and ravaged the world. That's canon. That's the backstory Capcom provided for the movie, which is EXPLICITLY canon to MH World. There's no dodging this, people can fucking cope all they want.
