Christ God is the Head of the Church. The real, physical Church.

The oldest Holy Icons we have that survived are heated wax and egg tempura painting. They are in the Holy Monastery of St Catherine at the foot of Mount Sinai. You have seen this image before, picrelated.
The Church has rules about how to create Holy Icons. They are not just art.
