I'm pretty sure all the magazine stuff was decanonized because of the bowel shaking fear the Unseen situation caused them.
The Hedgehog is in a similar boat, it has canonical mentions (more than one, even!) and what they describe matches what the apocryphal mech is (a star league oddity that was functional, but not really worth the trouble of keeping a tripod running), but they have not fully brought it back with a record sheet and all.
