Over the course of a few years I have read my fair share of magic (I will not call it magick, it makes it sound even gayer) books and have even practiced some magical operations with outstanding success, although nothing grandiose like levitating a honda civic, stuff more related to things like making a person I had lost all form of contact with come to my doorstep suddenly after 5 years.

I decided I was interested in magic so much that I decided to spend a significant portion of my time doing parapsychology only to find that the experiments that need to be done elude the minds of the least retarded of psychologists, biologists and engineers in the field who have access to the necessary funds (feel free to google the IONS). Not only that but after speaking with Peter Carroll (the guy who wrote Liber Null) on various occasions I've come to only one conclusion:

EVERY SINGLE MAGIC BOOK IS SHIT AND SO ARE MOST MAGICIAN/WITCH PUBLIC FIGURES.

By that I don't mean that they cannot do magic, I'm sure they can, but not to a much better extent than I or (You) are able to do. Nothing flashy, just improbable synchronicities that result in social and moderate biological changes which may include illness.
When you read a book on magic the language used is grandiose, pompous, irritating and roundabout. People often mistake mentions of things like the five elements as being thought of as metaphors when they read a grimoire, but they aren't, the authors really were that stupid to think literal fire or even wood were part of the fundamental blocks that make up reality. There´s entire galaxies lacking both. Arguably the only cosmology that makes contemporary sense is the emerald tablet, but its origins are highly disputed. The only thing that's any good is /loa/ material because it teaches how to perfect the method to get things done, but once again, nothing extraordinary like casting fireball.
