Fox originally wanted to put the Panthers at that stadium but wasn't willing to broadcast from a gray field. Fox offered to absorb the cost of replacing the field with green turf but Eastern Michigan's AD at the time, Heather Lyke, refused. She went on to ruin athletics at Pitt and Eastern Michigan has a different AD so the school might be more open to working with the UFL on the issue of the field color. It sounds like the UFL really wants to find a way to stay in Michigan but most of the other options available now have their own issues. According to Eastern Michigan's current AD, no one from the league or the team have reached out yet to discussion options.
