>>149996626No you misunderstand I'm not a fan of them nor is my degree (bachelor's, masters and then PHD) from there. The ACC is ass they were the first to correctly call it out on its bull shit and do something about it. You can't even make a tougher schedule since there's too many conference games in general. The schedule should be, for everyone, six conference games, six OOC games. Two divisions of your conference play each other.
>>149996646>degreekwab, good wittle goy
>>149996646The ACC being ass is a feature for Florida State, not a bug. That's the entire reason they aren't in the SEC instead. Bowden correctly thought the ACC was an easier road to the championship. Anyways, it doesn't matter anymore. Win the conference and you're in the CFP. Hell, you can be the runnerup and still get in over Alabama and a Big 12 team you lost to at home with the same record as you.

UCF once had a alien that mated with an orange for their mascot, which was unique, but switched to the generic (Golden) Knights.
>>150000646>QBthatโs the punter thoughโฆ.
>>150001317LOL, you're right but the general idea is still the same. He's coached to mindlessly head to the kicker. At some point when he's close, he has to determine if the ball is still there to avoid a roughing penalty, be it a kicker or a QB, but he was still too far away for that to be an issue yet. Hearing the whistles blow probably is what eventually stopped him rather than noticing the ref had the ball, but really it could have been either. If ACC loses UNC plus another school, and then in theory at least 2 more to either big ten or sec, does big 12 raid acc or does acc raid the big 12?
>>150001651They have two grandstands. They're lucky to get 5000-7500 fans for their big opponents (CMU/WMU/Toledo). Most locals support Michigan who is 7 miles to the West. EMU is an afterthought.
The field was donated by Maxx Crosby who grew up an hour away and played his college ball at EMU. I don't know about you, but if I'm in charge of a broke athletic department with no revenue stream, I'm taking a free donation when it's available. The weight room (and football facility) was donated by TJ Lang, an offensive lineman who played for EMU and later the Green Bay Packers.
They celebrate bowl games and NFL draft picks. Every name listed atop is a player who was drafted into the NFL, hence the nickname "The Factory".
This could potentially be the most grim program in FBS. I have no clue why they write "Champions Built Here", as they've never actually won anything outside of a Potato Bowl a few years ago. They are the only members in the MAC who have never qualified for the MAC Championship game. Their current coach is the best coach that they've ever had, and he's still below .500 at the school.
The athletic department actually does a good job engaging in fans / trying to get people to attend games. They basically run a carnival behind the main grandstand to get families to come to games. For one game a year, they invite at least two dozen local marching bands to perform at halftime in an attempt to recruit those same kids to go to their school. Concessions are an issue. They constantly run out of food and bring in food trucks to help sales. For bathrooms you have to walk to the adjacent basketball arena.
I don't care I'll always support my local MAC team. Fuck front-runners. This is $20/game ($100 for season tickets) with free parking, no traffic, and you're not rubbing elbows with your neighbor for 4 hours.
>t. /sp/s only EMU fan

>>150002694They merge. One cannot raid the other and survive but neither can survive alone if that happens. We will get a super duper conference of mids.

>>150002711The excitement is palpable
>>150002694Neither happens. The exit fees are too extreme for both parties to justify what is essentially a lateral move.
If the ACC needs to expand, they'll target South Florida, UConn, Army, and Navy as they're the best options for cheap, but they likely don't want to divide what little revenue they have left.
With that said, I'll believe it when I see it that UNC, Clemson, FSU, Miami, etc. are SEC / Big Ten bound.
>>149996880How does one get added to the committee
>>150002700Yeah, I live in the area and just don't understand the depressed Eeyore angle they take to the program. Maybe they think they can be "lovable losers" or something like that. Ypsilanti has its issues but A2 is starting to spill over into it. It's not Youngstown. As you mentioned, it's inexpensive access to FBS, even if bottom tier. UM isn't handing out free tickets with Coca-Cola anymore. Most families can afford an outing to watch an Eastern game.
Get positive. Get fun. Stop acting like a goth kid looking for sympathy for anyone who will pay attention. No need to compete with the Wolverines. No need to play the "you can't insult us if we insult ourselves" game. The western suburbs have plenty of people that aren't associated with the University of Michigan, not even as Walmart Wolverines. They need to try tapping into that market and stop trying to be a mini Cleveland. At the very least, ditch the dingy grey field next time the turf is replaced. As a marketing gimmick, it's as effective as telling everyone they have herpes. And it might have cost them the opportunity to make revenue from hosting the UFL's Panthers.
>>150002632The press conference will be at 11 a.m. Mountain Time. He released a video last night stating his medical issues have caused him to write a will. It "pops" in a very unique way. I suspect that was the point. I am not sure if it transfers to football in the same way though.
Place your bets:
1. He ded, not coaching ever again
2. He ded, will be coaching a little but the team will have an interim head coach since he's limited
3. He's fine, complete nothingburger and he will continue coaching CU
4. He's fine, just using this as an excuse to skedaddle out of town

He's already had some health issues that have physical manifestations, so it's not a stretch that there's something going on. Could he be overplaying it to get out of coaching now that his sons are gone? Yeah, that would be on brand for him.
Option two seems the most likely, though maybe not about to die, just needs to lower his activity, so he will still be head coach but let the assistant run the program until he actually does step down sometime after the season starts and it's too late for players to transfer.

So, I know it's kind of human nature to enjoy some schadenfreude here and there and sadly it's way more common than I'd like. The constant satisfaction and joy I see from so many people in the suffering and pain of others is really sad.
I've been really disappointed in much of /cfb/ commenters over the weekend mocking and making a joke out of all this. I understand that there is reason for skepticism with how Deion has followed his boys around from place to place and now they are gone. But when reports come out about major health issues, I'd just encourage you all to take a step back and either tone down the skepticism and schadenfreud or don't post at all and wait until more information comes out.
It'd probably be healthy for those of you mocking him last week over this, to acknowledge that you probably didn't do a good thing and own up to it a bit, at least to yourself. That sort of thing is good for personal development

Arizona State "picked" the Peach (only option left)
This year the 4 bowl games are Rose, Sugar, Cotton, and Orange.
>>150013438They don't choose them. They are assigned based on tradition and location. That's why the SEC team went to the Sugar Bowl.
>The CFP selection committee will assign the four highest-ranked schools to Playoff Quarterfinals hosted by bowls. This will be done in consideration of historic bowl relationships, then in consideration of rankings. For example, if the Sugar Bowl hosts a Playoff Quarterfinal and an SEC school is ranked No. 1 and a Big 12 schools is ranked No. 3, the SEC school would be assigned to the Sugar Bowl and the Big 12 school would be assigned elsewhere.

>>150015263This first part is false. DeBoer gets a pass last year with Radio at QB. The second part makes no sense, playoff is expected. No one thinks DeBoer is Saban so what is this delusion you're speaking of?
>>150015191Bama is happy with DeBoer.
He's a great pull for following Saban, a difficult position that a lot of serious coaches would not have touched.
General consensus is that DeBoer's technical offense he showed at Washington was fundamentally incompatible with Milroe, mostly too dumb and too many behavioral issues.
We're hoping Ty, a white QB who has put in his dues, will be prepared to step into that with DeBoer who has his OC from Washington back as well.
The snub last year was obviously a product of the historical butthurt the program has afflicted upon College Football for the last 15ish years.
SEC is definitely top heavy so its not an easy road, but this is DeBoer's year to show what he can do.
And if he's a fluke, then we'll be bummed, but honestly some of us were prepared for a lot darker times than this.

>>150021407ironically basically every big team can go bowling because there's so many fucking teams that they'll never play each other routinely and thus can round robin themselves to winning records
>>150022638It would be interesting to see a conference schedule that's changed each season based on the previous season's records where the goal is to "even" out the difficulty, meaning no one would get more than a couple of the most difficult teams on their schedule but also no one would get all creampuffs either.
Doubt any conference would go 100% on that since it would get in the way of not letting twenty years go by without playing certain conference mates. And of course rivalries would have to be protected but that could be accommodated by starting the schedule with rivalries in place and then adjusting everything else around them to normalize the difficulty.
>>1500228571. The B10's goal is to ensure their big legacy brands get a free ride into the playoffs, plus maybe one or two wildcard teams per year to make it seem like there's some parity that doesn't exist. They have no incentive to make difficulty-balanced schedules that fuck them out of the playoff spots. Which is why...
2. The B10 wants AQ spots for their teams so they can throw whatever bullshit and always have the lion's share of playoff tickets. But even still, they have no reason to punish Ohio State or Michigan with a gauntlet when they generate the most revenue by far in their conference. They would rather secure spots in the playoff for their golden gooses than let some interloping teams take over and mess up the money pile.
In fact, the only two real conferences that will exist in 2026 are the PAC-12 and Mountain West, as they have true conference schedules that have feature every team playing one another and thus declaring a real conference champion.
>>150022491Turns out, Dan Mullen can't manage a football program but he was great at hiding off-field issues by winning games. The shoe throw was just the first piece of duct tape to break. Now we have the opposite problem - a solid football team with a coach who won't admit his offensive play calling doesn't work at this level.
Could be worse, I heard there's another school in Florida that's only good at women's soccer.

>>150025712The Big 12 is a bit of a wild card due to Yormark being convinced that college basketball is heavily undervalued and he can unlock that through expansion. Even at schools like Kentucky, football pays the bills. He wants to change that. The recent decline in the NBA's fan interest isn't a good sign for the future of basketball but that could also be due to that league being poorly run than a real decline in interest in the sport.
>>150026682CBB is undervalued, but not quite the way Yormark makes it out. It's undervalued because the NCAA signed a very long, below market value deal for March Madness. That's what generates most of CBB's revenue. The NCAA also takes a huge slice of MMbux off the top to fund themselves. When that deal expires in a few years it's very likely the power conferences tell the NCAA to get fucked and take control of the tournament themselves. Signing a better deal and cutting out the NCAA middleman would be a huge boost to CBB revenue.

He wasn't going to be stuck with another year of one of the worst QBs I've seen keep the starting job at an elite football program in Jalen MildewDo you still think he would have retired? I don't think he liked any of the NIL shit, I think Kirby Smart might make the NFL jump soon too for this reason.
>>150059660Probably. I wouldn't want to deal with this cluster of wild west money and transfer rules for the next 5 years either.
Hello, this is your reminder that the University of California is in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Have a nice day
>>150058467Faggot club is three doors down.
>>150015588>>150015191most people trust Deboer, and there's really no reason not to. He took a pretty bad Alabama team (other teams ransacked their transfer portal after saban left) and almost made a 12 team playoff with wins against Georgia and on the road at LSU. And he somehow did all this with Jalen Milroe running the offense. Honestly he should get the Nobel Prize.
Would you attend college in a large, decaying city?
>>150063081The more detached the college is from a major city the better. Preferably the student population should be 1/3 of the cities population or higher.
I can't imagine how much harder dating and banging college peers is in cities like miami, nyc, or LA when your a broke college dude competing against guys with boats, you literally cannot compete
>>150063389Brother I went to a major university in a town with less than 100k people and I still had the same damn problem. Rich chads are everywhere and the 10/10 sluts, slampigs, and qt mids will always gravitate towards them. Yes, some schools have a higher concentration like UMiami and USC, but they still go to the ones with a lesser reputation for wealth.

Older anons will remember a couple of decades ago when /cfb/ went through a hysteria over students drinking, with several trophies retired and rivalry names changed because they were considered to promote the consumption of alcohol.
Now even most SEC schools sell booze in their stadiums (no longer restricted to luxury boxes) and some schools are even marketing with alcohol companies by licensing their logos. Can we get the trophies and rivalry names back?
>>150063596I went to a directional school that had 20k city population and 15k student population. An hour from any major metro.
There was no late 20's early 30's chads lurking about, if you were still there you were a prof or dropped out to work at the casino. Been 15 years and my roommate from college is still bartending at that casino

It's at home, Oregon is losing a lot from last year, they finally get their night time whiteout meme game and they will be coming off a bye week while Oregon is playing Oregon State the previous week.
>>150001651Fox originally wanted to put the Panthers at that stadium but wasn't willing to broadcast from a gray field. Fox offered to absorb the cost of replacing the field with green turf but Eastern Michigan's AD at the time, Heather Lyke, refused. She went on to ruin athletics at Pitt and Eastern Michigan has a different AD so the school might be more open to working with the UFL on the issue of the field color. It sounds like the UFL really wants to find a way to stay in Michigan but most of the other options available now have their own issues. According to Eastern Michigan's current AD, no one from the league or the team have reached out yet to discussion options.
>#9 MaxPreps HS QB is comitted to Kentucky
Please don't pick somewhere else or transfer at any point. Kentucky hasn't had a good QB in forever. No, Will Levis was never good, he was ass even in college.
>>150069293what's her problem?
>>150069352She was mainly interested in women's sports. At Pitt she spent a quarter of billion dollars on a new facility for non-revenue sports, which are mostly women's sports. She said donors would pay for it but was only able to raise something like 5% of the cost.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same at EMU, with a focus on things other than football. Not sure if the USFL stuff is correct because she left EMU in 2017 but maybe Fox was already scouting locations that early. If so, they should have come back after she left for another negotiation.
Regardless of who is responsible, it's crazy that they're missing on out the opportunity to get an extra million dollars per year hosting the UFL team. This assumes $200k per game, which would be only 40% of what Ford Field charges. For a MAC school, that would be a lot of extra income. Plus the school would get a lot of free publicity by simply having its stadium name in the news during the UFL season.
>>150069331The only Kentucky QB I can remember was the one who was a giant. Don't remember if he was good or not, just that he was comically large.

>>150069352She was a softball player at Michigan during a period where the football team won the Big Ten every single year she was there. Imagine what the softball facilities were like in the late 80s/early 90s and how little attention they got compared to the football team. She likely has a huge chip on her shoulder over it and vowed to push women's sports like softball if she ever got to be in charge.
>>150069741would do her tho
>>150069741They were probably top notch compared to many other programs. Every school that has a money-making football team has great facilities for all the other bullshit. It's why you see students from football schools winning olympic medals all the time.
>>150069843Probably but this is woman logic. Think about how every WNBA player hates Caitlin Clark, the only one bringing attention to their sport. The football team was her Caitlin Clark.
>>150069918I shan't deign to think about how women think. Fact of the matter is that she likely had some of the best facilities in the world.
>>1500698431980s, not today.
>>150069952Even in the 80s they were probably objectively amazing.
>>150069644Hefty Lefty was their last good QB and before him Tim Couch. People clowned on Lorenzen's size, but dude could throw and move impressively well for his size.
It's potato quality but good enough to see they were basically playing on a dirt lot with some benches. University spending on facilities for Title IX sports didn't go beyond token amounts until recently. In the 1980s, no one gave a shit other than courts. The schools did the minimum they could get away with.
>>150069958Surely you have photos of these fancy softball facilities at Michigan in the 1980s.
>>150070086They got a brand new one in 1982.
>>150070204>get new softball field just for softball>don't have to share with the baseball team ever again, a rarity in the 1980s, a true testament to the financial power of Michigan athletics>it doesn't seat 15K>nobody shows up to watch you play anyway>get mad about it>destroy men's athletic programs every chance you getWomen be like that.
>>150068939what even happened to Auburn? The last 5 years I just kind of forgot Auburn even existed. They used to get meme wins against Alabama but even that has completely died out too.
