I feel like the appeal of Mametchi is something that's completely lost in translation. A lot of love from Japanese fans comes from how his "perfect" status ends up making him come across like he has a stick up his ass since he always uses keigo with everyone, which makes him seem emotionally distant, while saying things that come off blunt in a psychopathic way. It also serves to contrast Kuchipatchi's kindhearted but dim nature, and they end up playing off each other very well. (It's also probably why Memetchi flopped as a mascot too, the boke/tsukkomi duo routine leaves little room for a third party to fill so she ends up being nothing more than "token girl".)
