Some of you people can only be described as fucking retarded. It's the other way around, Misaki's being "pushed" in Raildex collaborations and some stories BECAUSE she sales merchandise, which is like 95% of the reason editorials and anime studios bother making more manga & anime (the other 5% being keeping the IP active so they can later negotiate making more money out of merchandise). If it was just a matter of pushing a character that isn't justifying the investment, they would have dropped the gimmick years ago but here we are 5 years after Railgun T, which is the reason she became popular in the first place. As far as Kamachi writing MisaMisa goes, I think it's very obviously half and half if not 60/40% , he does like writing them together but is also asked to do so by Dengeki (again, this is solely because it works), and I truly don't get what exactly do you mean by her showing up where "she doesn't belong". She's mostly a Science side character, which btw is the most popular by far, and only shows up in the Index Novels for the same reason as any other science side heroines does in those books, either by happenstance or because she's trying to help Touma.
